How to block all websites except a few full#
We have full access to this server before we let the employee in to it, so editing the group policy, firewall rules, anything of the sort, is possible. Allow access to all URLs except the ones you blockUse the blocklist to prevent users from visiting certain websites, while allowing them access to the rest of the web. Also, the method should be one that doesn't let a normal user bypass it, it should require the admin for any changes.Īny inputs for doing this are appreciated. We have a method to restrict the browsers that the user can use, so we only need a way to restrict the access to this in one browser. With the hosts file, it only seems to be possible to block sites, not block all and allowĪ few. I've read articles on this and have found that a possible solution could mostly be the firewall or the hosts file, but these methods don't seem to work completely. But I want EVERY site blocked for these few pc's and then just have a white-list of allowed sites. I'm trying to accomplish the opposite, apologies if I mis-represented. I would ask if anyone knows which is the best way to do this: Block all websites from the user, except a few sites (one allowed site is enough for now). tx again, I've been testing in a few ways, but if I understand your instructions you are entering in the IP address of specific sites you want to block. We want to secure the desktop in a few ways, and one of those ways is to control the employees' web access. Click File in the top left corner of the window. For example, if you are blocking you should type 127.0.0.1 8. You can have your router use the pi-hole as the dns and see all the sites the devices go to and blacklist specific sites. Look at something like building a Pi-hole.

I'm setting up a user account on my server for an employee, so he can work on a project. Click on the last line of text in the window, press the Enter key, and type 127.0.0.1 followed by the URL of the website you want to block. More then likely the sites talk to other sites so if you white list only a few site you’ll break those sites as well.
